Abstract
The objective of the new project is to create electrospun materials with superior characteristics compared to existing products on the market. Therefore, the development of polyimide (PI) nanocomposites with embedded nanoparticles (NPs) (zeolites, TiO2, etc.) opens up opportunities for multifunctional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The choice of embedded nanoparticles can be tailored to specific requirements, such as UV-blocking nanoparticles for outdoor PPE, flame-retardant nanoparticles for fire-resistant clothing, or chemical-resistant nanoparticles for hazardous chemical handling. Taking in consideration all this information the proposal project will be in the forefront of current research and fits in the general development strategy of the European market, in terms of highlighting the great potential of new ployimide in obtaining new high performance electrospun materials. These electrospun materials will be interesting from both scientifically and technologically/industrially points of view, opening new directions for new compounds, which are more efficient and with high protective capabilities than traditional materials. Also, PPE has become an essential part of cultural practices and norms, particularly during pandemics and public health emergencies. The development of innovative PPE materials reflects society's commitment to protecting individuals and preventing the spread of infectious diseases. The scientific impact of the current project will be two-fold: on one side this work will provide useful insights concerning the processing of PI and PI loaded with NPs and on the other side some fundamental questions concern electrospun membrane formation for PPE will be answered.Назад...
